Week 1 Games THAT YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO MISS

Week 1 – it’s finally here. You can almost feel that crisp fall morning air…unless you are as lucky as me and living in Birmingham, AL. Every Thursday you can count on this post as being your go-to for the upcoming week’s major TV games. Got a wedding or funeral to go to? Check here first to make sure that game doesn’t conflict with what your wife/significant other/ friend with benefits has scheduled for that day. (Because, let’s be honest here – there is no reason why any single man has an excuse on missing any college football)
These will be ranked on a scale of 1-5 Money Stacks…because we all know that more money = more good. Then again, as Biggie once did say, “Mo’ money, mo’ problems”
5 MONEY STACKS – YOU CAN’T PAY ENOUGH TO WATCH THESE GAMES
LSU vs. Oregon (Saturday - ABC 8:00PM) Can Oregon pick up and move on after their “off the field” troubles? Is LSU going to be OK without Jefferson at QB? This game has National Title implications Week 1.
Georgia vs. Boise State (Saturday - ESPN 8:00PM) Georgia wins, they are legit contenders for the SEC East; they lose and the fire begins to burn under Coach Richt. Boise wins, they take down an SEC school and talk starts of a National Title appearance

4 MONEY STACKS – PRICED ABOVE FACE VALUE

 
BYU vs. Ole Miss (Saturday - ESPN 5:45PM) How well do Mormons hold up in the south with heat, humidity, and women in sundresses all over The Grove? Does Houston Nutt have a team this year?
South Carolina vs. East Carolina (Saturday – 7:00PM Fox Sports Regional) Two Quarterback battle has been the talk all summer for the ‘Cocks. Can Stephen Garcia get it together this year and lead his team to another SEC East title? Will Lattimore and Jeffery continue to be the best weapons for South Carolina?

UCLA vs. Houston (Saturday – 3:30PM Fox Sports Regional)
I’ve got to admit, I’m just here to see how well a PAC-12 team does on the road week 1.
South Florida vs. Notre Dame (Saturday – 3:30PM NBC)
Skip Holtz returns to his Alma Mater in South Bend looking for respect and a victory. I’m really thinking they keep this close…and could be one of my “Dogs of the week”

2 MONEY STACKS – I FEEL LIKE I’M GETTING RIPPED OFF

TCU vs. Baylor Friday (Saturday – 8:00PM ESPN)
Horned Frogs and Bears. This is a combination that Moses couldn’t dream up…
Northwestern vs. Boston College (Saturday - 12:00PM ESPNU)
HEY, IT’S A BIG 10/ACC MATCHUP! Who stands to gain more from this game? I’d like to think if BC pulls out a victory, they will sell a few more tickets via Groupon for their season.

1 MONEY STACK – CAN I GET A REFUND?

Utah State vs. Auburn (Saturday – 12:00PM ESPN2) Auburn will be terrible this year…but just how bad.
App State vs. Va Tech (Saturday - 12:30PM ACC Network) Va. Tech has had trouble before with D2 schools (SEE: JAMES MADISON). Va. Tech has also had trouble getting going the first game of the season. Maybe the Hokies can get Shane Beamer to lead the team out of the tunnel  with a “I’m cranking up a Model-T Ford” motion wile Enter Sandman is playing.
