SEC BAGMEN SAILING / I BOUGHT A BOAT

In case you haven't noticed, I like to make nautical references in my blog posts. There is a reason for this and its cause I started sailing this summer. The SEC Bagmen come from a wide variety of backgrounds and places.

With that said, break out your nautical themed pashmina afgan and lets talk about some ocean racing.

This weekend, the Charleston Ocean Racing Association had its first Fall Ocean Race. I got on board a 30 footer named "Old School" with three salts. "C" Fleet was going on course 20, a 23.9 nautical mile race that took us out of the safety of Charleston Harbor and into the unforgiving waters of the Atlantic. The seas were rough but we made it the waves and managed to finish the course in a blazing 3hours 42 minutes and 21 seconds. Not bad for my first ocean race. full results here.

In other news: I BOUGHT A BOAT!

Yes yes, as the sailing goes, there are two kinds of people, th
ose who own boats and the poor.

Here she is!

She is a 1973, P-14 by Paceship. The pride of canadian boat making.

I got her for 100 bucks, with trailer......

I know, I know, she doesn't look like much now, but she is my new project. Give me a few months and I will have her looking like this:

STAY TUNED FOR WEEKLY UPDATES ON HER PROGRESS!
